C3 Media, in partnership with the Institut Français du Nigéria, recently held a one-day workshop for actors and dancers at the IFN Cafe, 52 Libreville Street, Wuse 2, Abuja. The event focused on empowering youths and nurturing fresh talent in Nigeria’s creative world of theater and arts, which drew the special interest and support of the Foundation for Youth Development (FYD). Represented by Mr. Wasiu Akindele, FYD was intrigued by how this workshop targeted upcoming artists and offered them tools to succeed in acting, dancing, and beyond.
The session started with inspiring introductory remarks from Mr. Sola, the director of C3 Media, who explained the workshop’s purpose and introduced the brilliant facilitators. Actress and creative arts therapist Ms. Makeda Solomon led a calming therapy session that got everyone relaxed and ready to learn. Etiquette and public speaking coach Mrs. Sonye Allanah then spoke about key elements in acting, focusing on the importance of tone and stage presence. Mr. Akindele of FYD followed with a motivational speech about exploring multiple career paths, reminding young participants that they can succeed in anything they set their minds to—be it acting, singing, or dancing.
inance expert Mrs Bassey Captain-Briggs taught attendees how to handle their finances wisely, stressing that managing one’s earnings is crucial for long-term success in the creative industry. After these talks, the Participants were split into two groups for practical lessons. The actors trained with Ms. Makeda Solomon and members of the C3 Media team to plan short drama performances, while the dancers worked with C3 media’s very own choreographer, Michael Atuonwu, on their routines. In the final showcase, three sets of actors took the stage with short dramas, and two dancing groups performed their eye catching moves.
The event concluded with powerful closing remarks from the gifted producer and writer at C3 Media, Mrs. Victoria Nwuche and a short speech from the owner of the IFN Cafe, Ms. Lucil Ada. The Q&A session that followed allowed young talents to express gratitude and highlight all they learned, including financial tips they hadn’t expected to get at an acting workshop.
Overall, the workshop was a big success, demonstrating the combined commitment of C3 Media, the Institut Français du Nigéria, and FYD in supporting and uplifting creative youth. The attendees left feeling inspired, equipped with fresh techniques in acting and dancing, and better prepared to manage their finances—ready to reach for new heights in the performing arts.
